Controversial Dead Island Zombie Bait Edition Ships Anyway
Remember Deep Silver’s announcement of the Dead Island Riptide Zombie Bait Edition that stirred up controversy a few months ago? Y’know, the edition that came bundled with a bust of a mutilated female torso?
It seems that the public backlash following the announcement wasn’t enough to deter the publisher, with a number of Zombie Bait editions shipping to AU and UK retailers regardless.
A Deep Silver representative made the following statement to CNET regarding the decision: “An extremely limited quantity of the Zombie Bait edition has been made available to some retailers for those customers who wish to purchase it.”
This comes in the wake of Deep Silver’s formal apology, which you can read below:
“We deeply apologise for any offence caused by the Dead Island Riptide Zombie Bait Edition, the collector’s edition announced for Europe and Australia. For the limited run of the Zombie Bait Edition for Europe and Australia, a decision was made to include a gruesome statue of a zombie torso, which was cut up like many of our fans had done to the undead enemies in the original Dead Island.
“We sincerely regret this choice and are committed to making sure this will never happen again.”
Have any of you purchased the edition?
