UPDATE: According to a Gematsu translation of a post on Bethesda’s Japanese website, the game will be powered by the latest version of the id Tech 5 engine. It will star a detective called Sebastian who has to fight his way through a world filled with monsters and cruel traps. As he attempts to survive on limited resources, environments will distort and warp around him, transforming in real time based on evil forces at work and the player’s actions.

ORIGINAL STORY: Bethesda has officially revealed the debut project from Resident Evil and Vanquish creator Shinji Mikami’s Tango Gameworks studio, which it acquired in 2010. The Evil Within is an action horror title scheduled for release on Xbox 360, PS3, next-gen consoles and PC in 2014.

Putting an end to days of teasing, Bethesda released a live action trailer for the game, which you can view below. Mikami also told IGN. “We’re incredibly proud to announce The Evil Within. My team and I are committed to creating an exciting new franchise, providing fans the perfect blend of horror and action.” Further details about the game are due to be released next Monday, April 22.
